The Torsionally Flexible Spider Coupling, also called Jaw Coupling, is widely used and comprises two metal jaw discs and an elastic body. The two metal spider discs are generally 45-gauge steel, but aluminium alloys are also helpful when sensitive loads are required.
The Torsionally Flexible Spider Coupling is processed by machining methods such as turning, milling, and broaching and then undergoes an overall heat treatment. To ensure sufficient mechanical strength, there is also a jaw disc on the market that is a casting, which can be produced in large quantities and eliminates processing losses. So, in terms of price, it is much lower than that of machining. However, the performance of castings is not good, and it is not recommended to be used in some critical working conditions. In addition, the jaws of the castings are prone to fall off under high-speed or high-load conditions.
The Torsionally Flexible Spider Coupling has a simple structure, no lubrication, easy maintenance, easy inspection, maintenance-free, and can run continuously for a long time. High-strength polyurethane elastic elements are wear-resistant and oil-resistant, have large bearing capacity, long service life, and are safe and reliable. Stable and dedicated work, with good vibration damping, buffering and electrical insulation properties. Has extensive axial, radial and angular compensation capabilities. Simple structure, small radial size, lightweight, tiny moment of inertia, suitable for medium and high-speed occasions.
Structural features of the Torsionally Flexible Spider Coupling:
1. Intermediate elastomer connection
2. Can absorb vibration and compensate radial, angular and axial deviation
3. Oil resistance and electrical insulation
4. Clockwise and counterclockwise rotation characteristics are the same
5. Fixing with positioning screws
The Torsionally Flexible Spider Couplings are widely used in CNC machine tools, CNC lathes, machining centres, engraving machines, CNC milling machines, computer gongs, metallurgical machinery, mining machinery, petroleum machinery, chemical machinery, lifting machinery, transportation machinery, light industry machinery, textile machinery, pumps, fans, etc.
